4-H Clover Collection

Registration deadline is Saturday, September 14 at the 4-H building at the Fair. Any registration prior to that can be brought to the Lincoln County Extension office.

Eligibility:
Grades are as of January 1, current year for all 4-H members.

Judging Procedure:
The 4-H Clover Collection competition provides 4-H members with the opportunity to show off their clothing construction and sewing skills.  All garments in the outfit or accessories must be sewn by the child.

4-H Participants may enter 2 items. Pre-4H may only enter one item.

*Appropriate construction methods should be used for member's and and skill level.

*Judging will be on a grade-level basis with consideration given to the following points:
(The Clover Collection Score Sheet will be used)
a. Appearance on Model (20 points)
b. Outfit on model (40 points)
c. Construction as it affects appearance (30 points)
d. Knowledge of subject matter (10 points)

Premiums are: 1st $50, 2nd $30, 3rd $20, and all other credible entries $10. 
Description should be written before contest begins at least by 11:30 A.M. *Description should be well-written, complete with a note on any special construction details or fabric choices. (Hint: pattern envelopes can provide assistance.)

Divisions
 

Judging will be by grade level cluster. Remember that all garments in the outfit must be constructed by the 4-H member. 
Class 1
Beginning Sewing grades 4 & 5- Elastic Waist garment:
skirts, pants, or shorts with elastic in the waistband
Class 2
Beginning Sewing grades 6-12 - Complete ensemble which includes pants or shorts and skirt, and top, simple dress, etc.
Class 3
School Wear grades 4-7 - Complete ensemble which includes pants, skirt, jeans, khakis, capri pants, or knee-length shorts with shirts or tops, or a casual dress, etc.
Class 4
Best Wear grades 4-7 - Complete ensemble which includes nicer dress, suit, or other dressy coordinating pieces
Class 5
School Wear grades 8-12 - Complete ensemble which includes pants, skirt, jeans, khakis, capri pants or knee-length shorts with shirts or tops, or a casual dress, etc.
Class 6
Best Wear grades 8-12 - Complete ensemble which includes nicer dress, suit, or other dressy coordinating pieces
Class 7
Formal Wear grades 8-12 - Formal (long) or semi- formal (shorter lengths) prom-type or party dresses or formal suits
Class 8
Accessory grades 4-12 - Any sewn accessory including belt, scarf, purse, wallet, backpack, travel kit or bag, headband, hat, tie or bowtie, apron, or other
Class 9
Costume grades 4-12 - Any garments considered a historic costume, cosplay ensemble or another costume
Class 10
Upcycled Garment grades 4-12 - This category includes "New" garments created by significantly altering original garments or other fabric items. Sewing by machine or hand must be part of the
alteration process, but other techniques may also be included.
